This is the WORST sequel I've ever read。 It made me remove the first book I loved from my favourites。 It was that bad。 Nothing was redeeming about this。 I can't even。 This has two more books, too, after this one! This story was sucked dry after the first one, which is fine。 Books don't always have to have hundreds of instalments in a series。Persephone in here is the worst character ever。 I absolutely hated her。 I had never felt such strong hatred towards a fictional character before。 She acts like an egoistic child。 Not aware of any consequences beforehand, and then she doesn't even learn from them。 Persephone is whiney, lies, and doesn't communicate enough when it is important while being mad at everyone else for doing the same or not understanding her。 The thing is, Hades isn't even keeping things from her。 She just wants to know every bit of his long life without asking。 Hades acknowledged that it didn't seem important to him and that she could have just asked, but she expected him to know every detail her messed up head might want to know。 Hades and everyone around her deserved so much more。 Persephone also always seemed to think the worst of Hades, even after knowing that he was a nice guy。 She is a terrible judgemental person on a high horse。Then the story, I can hardly tell it is about gods。 Most of the time, it feels like a random love story。 You should be able to tell that they are gods and not just state it with an occasional rare display of power, mentioning they are gods or their names。 The vibe just missed。 Persephone is a terrible journalist on top of everything。 She should have approached the goddess role。 This could have been any: Journalist writes about a big bad CEO, then she finds out he is nice, they date, then she gets famous because of his name, but she doesn't want the fame because she is a strong woman and can do it herself but messes up big time。 StoryThis somehow reminds me of Fifty Shades of Grey, but I might confuse things and mix it up。 Edit: I just watched the movie, and yes, parts of this series remind me of FSOG。And her strong independence has nothing to do with feminism in this book。 She is just too stupid to take the help she needs from anyone, man or woman, friend or lover。 I had to roll my eyes when she said she could do things herself because she is literally unable to。Since I already bought the third book, I will read it too。 I hope that it is good again, and this one just suffers from second book syndrome。 Spare yourself。 Skip this one。 。。。more

I see a lot of bad reviews because everyone thinks Persephone is really immature and they don’t like that about the book but I love it。 I mean yes it’s frustrating but it checks out 🤷🏼‍♀️ I mean COME ON this girl has been cut off from the world because of her mother almost her whole life and has never had a relationship。 Of course she’s going to be bad at it and super immature。 Especially because it’s so intense immediacy。 I think it’s super realistic and that’s refreshing。

hades im gonna get you out of there!!! persephone doesn’t deserve you!!

While it was still a quick read, I felt like the plot wasn’t very interesting and wasn’t the reason why I wanted to keep turning the pages。 I’d give it a 3。5 if I could

If she would have just listened and communicated, 60% of what is in this book wouldn't have happened。The plot was mostly meh and only became exciting at the end with the abduction。 Like 3。7。。。persephone's character is kinda annoying in this one。 Like can she listen for once and not jump to conclusions? I cannot express how much I am loving this series。 There is a chapter that could be very triggering for some, it is 27, empowerment。 After she accepts Helen’s offer, you can skip to the next chapter knowing that is full of attempted SA。 I am really only upset that there is another book that won’t come out for a year from now, and I’ve only got one more to read。 This book does end on a cliff hanger, unlike the first where it could have been a stand alone。 Thank you St。 Clair! This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 The love story is great, but this is a very fast paced romance。 I tend to be more into slow burn reads, and I felt like this book, like the former in the series, was quicker than what I am used to。 I felt like new situations were being introduced and then quickly resolved or moved on from。 The biggest one for me was the secret admirer/stalker。 Of course it was alluded to, but the ending was so quick that it almost felt unimportant to the story。 I hope that this plot point is elaborated on more i The love story is great, but this is a very fast paced romance。 I tend to be more into slow burn reads, and I felt like this book, like the former in the series, was quicker than what I am used to。 I felt like new situations were being introduced and then quickly resolved or moved on from。 The biggest one for me was the secret admirer/stalker。 Of course it was alluded to, but the ending was so quick that it almost felt unimportant to the story。 I hope that this plot point is elaborated on more in the next book in the series!

Persephone was a bit immature。 Making messes that Hades continually cleaned up。 But I definitely appreciated the growth and overall the story was good。

I feel like Persephone got really childish in this book。 Even the very beginning when she’s talking about communicative issues like Hades isn’t being open and honest with her…。 Like neither are you though? You want him to info dump you with his childhood and all his secrets? That makes no sense。 Also why don’t you start with the openness first and he’ll follow the example instead of you pushing for his side without giving your own。 When I read it through I understood her grievance but thinking b I feel like Persephone got really childish in this book。 Even the very beginning when she’s talking about communicative issues like Hades isn’t being open and honest with her…。 Like neither are you though? A Touch of Ruin, Scarlett St。 Clair4。5/5 A Touch of Ruin definitely isn’t like the first book。 It’s different。 But different good, very good。 I’m all in for the emotion and heartbreak。I just wish Pirithous’ arc would have lasted longer… The potential and material to elaborate was definitely there! Then again, we got that ending, which makes me look forward to the third book。 And thank God I ordered the second and third book after finishing the first…

Jesseca Moreda

Uuugh。 Two steps forward, one step back。 A fledgling goddess consumed by rage and insecurity blows up her life。 Rinse。 Repeat。 I guess I wanted more growth from Persephone off the bat, and the majority of the book was just a drag。 She’s annoying and rude throughout。

Again, I think this was better than the first but as far as spice and romance go, I have read fanfiction better。 But I got trapped in the love story and will be reading the next。

I do believe that this serie would benefit from a dual point of view。 I'm kinda annoyed that the mighty God, Hades, the God of the underworld, only is there to pleasure Perspehone in this book。 I will definitely continue this serie but first I'm off reading Hades point of view in A Game of Fate。 I do believe that this serie would benefit from a dual point of view。 I'm kinda annoyed that the mighty God, Hades, the God of the underworld, only is there to pleasure Perspehone in this book。 I will definitely continue this serie but first I'm off reading Hades point of view in A Game of Fate。 。。。more
